Screen Printing
/Screen printing is a printing technique using a mesh screen to transfer ink onto a piece of apparel. Some areas are made impermeable to the ink by a blocking stencil. A squeegee is moved across the screen to fill the open mesh with ink, and a reverse stroke then causes the screen to be pressed though the screen onto the piece of apparel. One color is printed at a time, so several screens can be used to produce a multicolored image or design.

We use both types of screen printing at Unity Imaging. For the average customer it comes down to cost and feel. Most t-shirts are printed with plastisol. It is more cost effective but you will be able to feel the ink on the garment. Waterbase and Discharge on the other hand are softer to the touch and sometimes you can't feel the print at all. But because waterbase and discharge are more difficult to use, printing with these inks will cost more than plastisol. For more information CLICK HERE
